Welcome! The Office of Employment and Training (OET) is a federally funded, locally operated program offering cost assisted training and placement services to employers, dislocated workers and individuals who meet our adult low income priority guidelines. Our mission is to enhance the economic vitality of Ulster County by developing or upgrading the skills of job seekers to meet the needs of local employers. Our services include listing of job openings, applicant screening/referral, classroom training for demand occupations, on-the-job training, customized training, career assessment, referrals to other community resources and job placement assistance. We are located at the Business Resource Center on Ulster Avenue in Kingston, in the Ulster County OneStop Job Center, a one-stop shop of agencies providing economic development assistance, education, employment and training and social services. OET is overseen by a board composed of business leaders and representatives from education, organized labor, rehabilitation agencies, economic development agencies, community based organizations, and public employment agencies. The Board, known as the Workforce Development Board, is appointed by the Ulster County Legislative Chair and sets the direction of OET, reviews the results of current work and develops plans and programs to assist local businesses in sustaining a qualified workforce. Veterans Come First! Ulster OneStop is proud to offer Priority of Service to veterans and their eligible spouses. What does this mean? If you served in the military, you will be: Served first by the next available staff member. Given first priority for jobs and training for which you are eligible and qualified. http://www.labor.state.ny.us/VETs/VETINTROPAGE.shtm
