JOB VACANCY: Automotive Mechanic II (Temporary, Full Time, Benefited, Non-Competitive Class) LOCATION: SALARY: $16.10 Per Hour FILL DATE: 12/20/2007 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is skilled work involving responsibility for efficient and workmanlike performance of a variety of automotive and mechanic repair tasks with gasoline and diesel engines. General instructions are received from the Garage Foreman regarding the tasks to be performed permitting some leeway for planning the details of each assignment. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four
(4) years of experience as an automotive mechanic and one (1) year of
experience in the mechanical repair of highway construction equipment and/or
transit or school buses. Note:
Completion of automotive repair courses may be substituted for the required
automotive repair experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two
(2) years. Special
Requirements for Appointment:
1.
Possession
of the appropriate class New York State Motor Vehicle Operator's License, if
the duties include vehicle operation.
2.
Possession
of a Motor Vehicle Inspector's Certificate issued by the New York State
Department of Motor Vehicles, if duties include vehicle inspection. 3. Possession of a valid New York State Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator’s License (CDL), if required by the department.
