JOB VACANCY:  Computer Applications Programmer  (Contingent Permanent, Full-Time, Benefited, Competitive Class)  (There are 14 + names on the OC eligible list)

SALARY:  $28.39 Per Hour

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a technical position involving responsibility for developing, testing and debugging new programs for an electronic data processing system.  The incumbent is also responsible for web site development.  The work is performed under the general direction of a higher level technical individual with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in the technical aspects of the work.  Technical supervision may be given to computer operators and data entry personnel.  Does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:

 

A.    A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; OR

 

B.    An Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field and two (2) years of paid programming experience in a data center equivalent to that of Ulster County in size, scope and complexity; OR

 

C.  Possession of a diploma or certificate of completion for a course of study in computer programming from a technical school licensed by the New York State Department of Education and three (3) years of paid programming experience in a data center equivalent to that of Ulster County in size, scope and complexity; OR

 

D.  Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of paid programming experience in a data center equivalent to that of Ulster County in size, scope and complexity; OR

 

E.  An equivalent combination of A, B, C and D above.

 

Note 1: College level study in Computer Science or related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the above mentioned degrees; must include a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in computer science courses and a minimum of nine (9) semester credit hours in computer related mathematics courses.  However, college courses may not be substituted for at least one year of the above-mentioned paid experience.

 

Note 2: When applying, you must supply sufficient information to support your claim that the size, scope and complexity of the agency from which you obtained your experience is equal to that of Ulster County .
