JOB VACANCY: Construction Equipment Operator II (Permanent, Full Time, Benefited, Non-Competitive Class) LOCATION: SALARY: $15.66 Per Hour FILL DATE: 12/11/2007 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves responsibility for the operation of one or more types of highway construction equipment in the performance of recurring manual work related to highway maintenance, repair and construction activities. The employee is also responsible for the routine care of the equipment and for following prescribed safety procedures in its’ operation. This class is distinguished from that of Construction Equipment Operator I in that the construction equipment used requires a greater degree of skill and experience. The work is performed under general supervision. Supervision may be exercised over the work of unskilled and semiskilled workers. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of full-time paid, or it's part-time equivalent, experience in the operation of construction equipment such as: grade-alls, graders, traxcavators, bulldozers, cranes, backhoes and road surfacing machines. Special Requirement: At time of appointment, must possess a valid New York State Driver's License appropriate for the equipment being operated. Special Requirement for Positions in Ulster County Department of Public Works: Candidates for employment in this position, on an open-competitive basis, must possess a valid NYS Class A (CDL) License with “X” endorsement, at time of appointment.
Candidates for employment in this position, on a promotional basis, must be eligible for NYS Class A (CDL) License “X” endorsement, at time of appointment, and must possess such license by the end of their probationary term. Special Note:In accordance with Federal Highway Administration (HWA) 49CFR382, all prospective employees will undergo drug/alcohol testing prior to appointment and will undergo random drug/alcohol testing during the course of employment.
If college or university education is indicated; transcripts are required and should be attached to all applications received. A candidate lacking the required transcripts will receive a conditional approval pending the receipt of transcripts.
