JOB VACANCY:  Motor Equipment Operator  (Temporary, Full Time, Benefited, Non-Competitive Class)

LOCATIONUlster County Department of Public Works, Division of Highways & Buildings

SALARY:  $13.67 Per Hour

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves responsibility for the operation of motor equipment and the performance of manual work normally associated with highway construction and maintenance.  The work is carried out in accordance with established procedures and involves the safe and economical operation of equipment normally related to highway construction and maintenance, although an incumbent may be assigned to another department.  The class differs from that of Laborer in that Laborer does not normally operate motor equipment.  Depending on assignment, work is performed under the direct or general supervision of a higher level employee.  Supervision of others is not normally a function of the class.  Does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None.

 

Special Requirement: At time of appointment, must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License appropriate for the equipment being operated.

 

Special Requirement for Positions in Ulster County Department of Public Works: Candidates for employment in this position, on an open-competitive basis, must possess a valid NYS Class B (CDL) License with required endorsements, if any, at time of appointment.

 

Candidates for employment in this position, on a promotional basis, must be eligible for NYS Class B (CDL) License with required endorsements, if any, at time of appointment, and must possess such license by the end of their probationary term.

 

Special Note: In accordance with Federal Highway Administration (HWA) 49CFR382, all prospective employees will undergo drug/alcohol testing prior to appointment and will undergo random drug/alcohol testing during the course of employment.

 

If college or university education is indicated; transcripts are required and should be attached to all applications 

received. A candidate lacking the required transcripts will receive a conditional approval pending the receipt of transcripts.
