Ulster County Announces Honoree for Women’s History Month

Legislator Alice Tipp, Chairman of the Community Services Committee, along with Kathryn Puglisi, Director of the Ulster County Office for the Aging, announce Ms. Mescal Hornbeck as the Ulster County honoree for Women’s History Month.

Mescal Hornbeck has been involved in community programs for over sixty years. She was instrumental in establishing a Meals on Wheels Program and a Senior Recreation Program in Woodstock. Ms. Hornbeck has been involved with the New York State Senior Action Council and also chaired a committee to promote National Health Insurance in the 1970’s. Her contributions have been varied throughout the years, always for the improvement of her community.

Ms. Hornbeck will be honored at this years 5th annual Women’s History Month Celebration, which will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 11:00AM at the Brookside Manor in Middletown. Women throughout Ulster, Orange, Dutchess and Sullivan Counties are invited to attend this celebration.

This year’s theme, Women Pioneering the Future, focuses on honoring women who have made great contributions to the arts, sciences and humanistic causes, as well as the innovative women who continue to expand the frontiers of possibility for generations to come.

The guest speakers for this year include Congresswoman Sue Kelly, Sullivan County Community College President, Mamie Howard-Golladay, international movie producer and director, Solila Parida and inspirational and motivational speaker Reverend Helen Lindsay.
