FROM: ULSTER COUNTY OFFICE DATE: April 8, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE APRIL 8, 2005 County Employee Recognition Week Proclaimed Richard Gerentine, Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, has announced the week of April 10-16, 2005 "National County Government Week" in honor of the public service provided by the employees of Ulster County. "During my time as an elected official, it has become apparent to me that Ulster County is fortunate to have talented and committed employees operating at the highest levels on a daily basis to provide the fundamental services that our citizens utilize. It had dawned upon me at the recent retirement of Deputy Administrator Sheldon Quimby, that we, as a Legislature, should recognize the hard work of our employees more often and not just when one steps down after years of dedicated service. Therefore, in honor and appreciation of the leadership, innovation, and deeply valuable services provided by the departments and staff within Ulster County, it is my pleasure to declare the week of April 10-16, 2005 as County Government Week," stated Chairman Gerentine. This declaration coincides with the National County Government Week which also recognizes the importance of essential services public servants provide throughout communities across the nation. |
