A message from County Executive Mike Hein
Hurricane Irene was the worst natural disaster in the history of Ulster County. The damage to many parts of the county is absolutely devastating, and in some instances, worsened by the arrival of Tropical Storm Lee. In the aftermath of these historic storms, Ulster County residents and business owners should know they are not alone. As always, your county government is here not only to coordinate and repair roads and bridges, but to help however we can. We have enlisted the aid of FEMA; and I want to strongly urge anyone who has suffered damage from these storms to speak with a FEMA representative immediately.
I sincerely thank Governor Cuomo for quickly recognizing the magnitude of the damage and working to declare Ulster County a disaster area, as well as US Senator Schumer, US Senator Gillibrand and Congressman Hinchey for their assistance in obtaining the emergency aid our county so desperately needs. Finally, on behalf of all the residents of Ulster County, I extend heartfelt thanks to the Ulster County Office of Emergency Management and all of the First Responders who were there when our neighbors needed you most.
Included on this webpage are links to a variety of useful resources and information to aid in our recovery efforts. Our communities are resilient and we are here to help; and working together, we will continue to make Ulster County the best place to live, work, visit and raise a family.
