Ulster County Veterans Service Agency


The Ulster County Veteran Services Agency (UCVSA) provides support to County veterans and their families in obtaining medical, disability, pension and education benefits from the U.S. Veterans Administration (VA) and the NYS Department of Veteran Affairs. The UCVSA also helps veterans with issues such as homelessness, burials, tax exemptions, employment, transportation and the FAVOR discount card program, and performs outreach to local communities and service organizations.

UCVSA Services

UCVSA Transportation Services: UCVSA provides transportation daily from Kingston to the Albany VA Medical Center for Ulster County veterans. Additional feeder routes will accommodate veterans in the Ellenville, Boiceville and Highland corridors at designated pick-up points and consolidate to the Kingston van schedule. Wheelchair-bound veterans may also request special transportation to the Albany VAMC or Kingston outpatient clinic. Reservations are required for all transportation. Call or email the Transportation Coordinator for reservations.

Ulster County Veteran's Cemetery: Ulster County, in partnership with the New Paltz Rural Cemetery, maintains a Veterans Cemetery at 81 Plains Road in New Paltz. A veteran who is a resident of Ulster County at time of death is eligible for a plot and grave marker at no expense, upon request of next of kin. Local funeral directors should be aware of the procedure to request a veteran plot, or you may contact the UCVSA for information.
