PocketCop® Software

"PocketCop®"  software is installed in a Blackberry (handheld) PDA, which is connected wirelessly to the Sheriff’s Mobile Data Computer server system at UCLEC.     This unit gives a user in the field similar access currently shared by sheriff’s units, the 911 center, and several town police units. Access to databases includes the ability to immediately search local, state and federal databases, and to securely communicate with MDC equipped patrol units and office desktops.

Users issued the device can wirelessly request the following:

Users stay informed on what's going on around the county, and in their patrol area.

Because of PocketCop® puts command officers and detectives  on the same page as those behind the wheel of a Sheriff’s MDC equipped unit, and desktops at police headquarters. For instance, during a critical scene, command officers and detectives issued this technology have the immediate ability to communicate securely (via text) with a participating laptop equipped police cruiser, and download data quickly from several law enforcement databases. Additionally, the handheld unit is a cell phone.
