$1.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds are now available to local non-profit and veterans’ service organizations to aid in pandemic recovery

KINGSTON, N.Y. - Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan is pleased to announce that $1.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds is now available to aid local non-profit and veterans’ service organizations in recovering from the COVID-19 public health crisis. The Non-Profit Recovery and Resilience Grant program is being administered by the Ulster County Recovery and Resilience Division.
“Ulster County is committed to using our federal dollars to invest the funds in ways that will create lasting, generational impacts, which include funding aid to non-profits and others,” Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan said. “Providing direct support to our essential nonprofits who served and continue to serve our young people, seniors, and veterans is essential to growing an economy that serves all residents. I want to thank our partners in the Legislature as we do the work of disbursing these ARPA funds to make generational investments and continue our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Eligible Applicants and Funding
Eligible 501(c)3 non-profits and 501(c)19 veterans’ service organizations have the opportunity to apply for funding to aid in offsetting the disproportionate negative economic effects and increased community needs of the pandemic. Funding is available for proposals of $5,000 or more, and less than $50,000. No local match is required.
Applicant organizations that meet the eligibility criteria must complete and submit applications by 3:00PM on May 6, 2022. The application process includes an online submission form and must be signed by an authorized signatory for the organization, such as the Executive Director or Chief Executive Officer. All awardees will enter into a contract with Ulster County and will be expected to expend all funds within a year. Awardees will be required to provide quarterly reports on the use and expenditure of funds.

Last year, Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan outlined his vision for a “People-Centered Economic Recovery” in an address to the Ulster County Legislature. His plans called for the use of part of the $34.49 million in federal relief funds from the American Rescue Plan to aid small businesses, mental health services, housing, and other priorities. Just last month, Ulster County announced it is acquiring the former Elizabeth Manor boarding house at 21 Elizabeth Street in Kingston, and will add much-needed emergency housing capability for Ulster County’s most vulnerable residents and families.
